The Net Position display, on the other hand, is intended to provide both position and profit and loss reporting. For some trade types, total P&L may consist of both unrealized and realized components. The nostro balances in the Net Position display reflect the realized components of trade P&L. This method of nostro derivation differs from that of the Cash Flow blotter in that not all settled cash flows are included the nostro balances upon cash flow value date. When viewing total P&L in the Net Position display one must always take into account both the realized (nostro) and unrealized (open trade gain/loss) components.
