Portuguese term or phrase: atestado de escolaridade
Its the translation of a document for a student that is going to study one year in Canada.
The document certifies that he is a regular student enrolled on first year od High School.
I translated the title of the document as CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION but it could be CERTIFICATE OF SCHOOL ATTENDANCE?
The text is very simple: "A escola... atesta que o aluno.... está regularmente matriculado no primeiro ano do Ensino Medio, nesse estabelecimento de ensino, no ano de 2011.

That is the best translation. It is not a school certificate , it is just a declaration that he is currently enrolled in that school for the year of 2011

Reference information:
Here are two more terms you might want to check out.

I think "certificate of matriculation" may not be the best, since it may also refer to a certificate of completion/diploma.

"Certificate of enrollment" might indicate more clearly that a student is/was registered/enrolled for a certain academic term or year in a high school.

Examples:
"A Certificate of Matriculation provides proof that a student is/was matriculated for a particular academic session."

*Certificate of Matriculation* Request Form. Complete this form to request a Certificate of Matriculation, which can be used to prove your status as a student.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The “Secondary” School will mail an *Enrollment Certification* or transmit a 1999 for the student as they would for any veteran student.

C. Student Visa Assistance
(All students intending to study in Canada will receive a *Certificate of Enrollment* to assist with visa applications.
If you are already in the USA or Canada, I-20/*Certificate of Enrollment* issuance is subject to confirmation of the validity of your non-immigrant status.

Example sentence(s):
  • Canada Minimum of 6 UPP subjects; or Canadian Matriculation; or Provincial High School Diploma; or Ontario Secondary School Diploma with 60% average in Years 11 and 12
  • The DMV requires a Certificate of Enrollment for students to receive their driver's permit. A *Certificate of Enrollment* can be obtained from your student's high school
