My tentative translation:

the poorly executed exterior sets

Other, and perhaps better, ideas?

Thank you.

"Lamentable" seems to strike the right note here. "Ill-conceived" is feasible as well. I don't think "unfortunate" works at all in this context. Thank you, Jenni. And thanks to everyone else who responded as well.

la desafortunada ambientación de las escenas de exterior
the embarrassingly poor/cringe-worthy outdoor scenes

Explanation:

Goodness, that’s not a very favourable review, is it? The person is all-out slating it. For that reason, I think I’d go with something accordingly strong. “Embarrassingly poor” or “cringe-worthy” express that harsh tone pretty succinctly in English, I would say. I really get the impression that the reviewer thinks the makers/actors ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Greetings.

the infelicitous outdoor settings

Explanation:
I do think 'infelicitous' gets close to the meaning of 'desafortunada' here - implying an aesthetic judgement and the idea that the film-makers have simply got it wrong and have the visual equivalent of a tin ear.

Setting of scenes, outdoor, outside, exterior, sets: you can probably play around with these without losing the sense. 'Outdoor settings' is for me an economical way of doing the job.
