Arabic term or phrase: يهتف بالمجان
This is about a demonstration in Syria attended by the writer. He is leaving the mosque where a funeral was held, and there was a demonstration outside, with people chanting or cheering or hollering against the government. Then this sentence occurs, which seems ambiguous as "majaan" is impudent" or "shameless," etc. But that does not seem to fit this sentence, which is the following:

Could that be "loudspeaker"? Thanks.

بدأت صلاة الجنازة، في منتصفها تماماً وبينما كان الصمت يسود الموقف ينبعث ذلك الصوت من بعيد (الله أكبر حرية) يليه صوت هادر يدلّ على جمهرة كبيرة جداً، من رجع الصوت فقط كان واضحاً أنهم بالآلاف بل أكثر، سرت قشعريرة أخرى في بدني عندما سمعت ذلك الصدى المهيب، وعرفت ان مظاهرة ستنطلق الآن بزخم كبير، وقلت "إنها دمشق إذاً لمن لا يعرف"، كم كنت بحاجة لأفخر بمدينتي التي عتب عليها كثيرون، إنها الميدان قلب دمشق الحقيقي، وكل شيء آخر زيادة خير...المهم هو القلب في النهاية فلولاه لا حياة بكل الجسد.

انتهت صلاة الجنازة، وكما في الصلاة التي سبقتها يصرخ أحدهم، فيردد الجميع خلفه ، لتبدأ بعدها سلسلة الهتافات ضد النظام، صار الصوت هدّاراً فعلاً...صوتٌ من المسجد حيث نقف، وآخر آتٍ من الجمع في الخارج، فيخرج منهما لحن غريب يجعل الادرينالين ينفجر في رأسك، خرجنا من باب المسجد وسط هذا المشهد.

لم يكن أحد يهتف بالمجان، كنت تنظر في وجه أحدهم فتجده يجهد كثيراً كي يصرخ بأعلى صوته وكأنه يتحضّر لدخول موسوعة جينيس لأعلى صوت بشري، لا شيء يجعل المرأ يفعل ذلك سوى أنه هو يريد فعله
