I'm translating a paper on Monitoring the safety of medical devices and I understand the meaning of carácter ciego but wonder what the correct term for it is - if there is one.

This is the context:
Cuando los acontecimientos adversos ocurran en un ensayo clínico doble ciego, se deberá desvelar el código de tratamiento de ese paciente concreto a efectos de reporting. Siempre que sea posible, se mantendrá el carácter ciego para el investigator, y para las personas encargadas del análisis e interpretación de los resultados así como de la elaboración de las conclusiones del estudio.
