deferred defense Explanation: Good to know that diferida refers to the recording. For televised sports events they always say en vivo y en directo as opposed to en diferido, i.e., it’s either live or taped. There are a number of ways to translate diferida, but I have a slight preference for going more literal here -- especially since later in the paragraph it says, “tenga acceso a la reproducción de copia videografía de la audiencia.” […] siempre que esté presente su defensor y se garantice el ejercicio de derecho de defensa material de forma diferida. … provided that his defense counsel is present and the right to a deferred defense is guaranteed.
