English term or phrase: Sponsor Teacher
¡Buenas noches!

Warm regards,
Jeanie Williams, 11th grade Sponsor teacher

¿Sería como el/la maestra organizadora del viaje?

profesor patrocinador
Explanation:
According to the Los Angeles Unified School District, a 'sponsor teacher' is a 'profesor patrocinador'.

Though more context might be helpful, it's probably fair to say that 'sponsor teacher' refers to an official role (and one that might go beyond that of a 'mentor'), and that 'profesor patrocinador' (a literal translation) might be the best option here.

Explanation:

(Puedo estar equivocada). Pero muchísisisisisisismas gracias :)

sponsor teacher
profesor consejero

Explanation:
First we need to define what a sponsor teacher is. I found this as a list of a Sponsor Teacher responsibilities (link below)

Mentoring Attitudes:
• The Sponsor Teacher is a model for the student; therefore, she/he must be careful in her/his attitudes
towards her/his colleagues and parents of the children, so that the student gains an understanding of professional behaviour.
• The Sponsor Teacher must understand the developmental level of the student, so that she/he can match increasing responsibilities to the student's abilities. Practicum Instructors can also help in this area.
• The Sponsor Teacher must be able to give clear directions about what is expected of the student and encourage the student to feel like part of the teaching team.
• The Sponsor Teacher should allow the student to have experiences that will reinforce the course learning and the role of the Teacher Assistant.
• The Sponsor Teacher must understand that the student is learning and so, may make mistakes. However, these mistakes should be explored as valuable learning opportunities.

Then, I found out that if you google "sponsor teacher, mentor teacher" there is no text which includes both titles together, meaning probably that sponsor teacher is a synonym of mentor teacher.

After that I found the following sentence and Spanish translation @ http://www.linguee.es/espanol-ingles/search?source=auto&quer...

"While the teacher is leader or sponsor of the society, the students should lead out in the meetings, which are usually held [...]" laspredicas.com

'Aunque el profesor es el líder o consejero de la sociedad, los estudiantes deben dirigir las reuniones, celebradas generalmente [...] "

Finally, when I googled "profesor consejero" I found out that this terminology is largely used in Spanish and the meaning seems to be quite similar to the English one (please see second link below)

neutral  Marcelo González: Wouldn't this back-translate to 'teacher-counselor'? I just don't see this as a viable option, especially given the often-strict requirements for using the title of 'counselor' in (US) K-12 settings, which usually include certification.
