From that rather important extra context, I strongly suspect this may be referring to an area where convenience foods are sold — many supermarkets group together 'snack lunch' etc. type foods, for the greater conveniend of, say, office workers dashing out to grab a quick bite for lunch!
is this from the US or GB? In the UK, 'conveniences' can be a euphemism for 'toilets', which would bring it closer to bernard's suggestion.
FWIW, I do a lot of work woth a major supermarket brand in France with an international presence, and they use other terms for rest areas, which are usually within the shopping mall itself (i.e. beyond the checkout line) — it's unusual for them to have rest areas (and indeed toilets) within the actual store itself. |
