En medicina funcional, es importante entender que es muy difícil que el médico
solucione todo. Existe un fenómeno que se llama agotamiento del médico. Los
doctores tienen cada vez más trabajo; los pacientes se vuelven más y más complejos.
A veces los tratamientos no funcionan o las medicinas recetadas tienen efectos
secundarios indeseados. Así, los médicos se agotan. Si el doctor no está tranquilo
y en equilibrio, es difícil que el paciente lo esté.
De esa manera, que el doctor esté en buena salud para sus pacientes no es
puramente su responsabilidad, sino que también lo es del paciente. Además, habrá
otro especialista de la salud que ayudará al médico a sanar al paciente: puede ser
un nutricionista, un psicólogo, un entrenador personal, etc.

Esa parte no tiene sentido. No se referirá a que el paciente también debe ser responsable de su propia salud?

My understanding - based on the previous paragraph ("los pacientes se vuelven más y más complejos", "es muy difícil que el médico solucione todo") - is that patients are contributing to doctor fatigue, and as a result, they are also partially responsible for doctors' health.

Something like "responsibility for doctors' health lies not just with doctors themselves, but also their patients", perhaps.

I assume the bit that follows "Además, habrá otro especialista..." is to be interpreted as a reminder that sometimes there are other health professionals better equipped to treat patients (which would relieve some of the burden/fatigue the text is describing).

I would agree though that the source text, in general, could be phrased more clearly. (For example, "por otro lado" would seem a more logical option than "además", but perhaps I'm splitting hairs).

My two cents, but let's see what others have to say.

  -> Thank you. You're right if you're phrasing it that way, but my suggestion reads "[responsibility... lies with] doctors and their patients", so no apostrophe is required.
neutral  Jennifer Levey: With Cecilia - the apostrophe is necessary. Without it you're missing the point of the ST argument. Better still, re-phrase it in proper grammatical English: "but also that of their patients." "por otro lado" also distorts/destroys the argument.

  -> Again, the way I phrased it in my answer is different to the construction you and Cecilia suggested, and as the object of "with", it does not require an apostrophe. As for "además", on second thought, yes, I think you might be right. Thank you.
