neutral  Tony M: So are you saying that "connectivity is in its infancy, and the same goes for influence"? I think this is a bit of a clunky way of rendering the s/t... Ten words to translate four...?

-> ;-) Not clunky. With good punctuation, it'll do the job just fine. 1. Asker didn't ask for subtitling 2. You know VOFR texts are hardly ever shorter than their EN translations. 3. I chose those 10 words to do the VO EN justice. ;-)

neutral  Daryo: where from do you get the idea that for A to "match" B there must be some links of causality between A and B??

Explanation:
I think in fact you probably need to treat the sentence as a whole, in order to produce something more idiomatic in FR.
It also probably depends rather a lot on the wider context: I'm assuming that 'in its infancy' means not yet very well developed', so what they are saying is that it therefore isn't yet having much influence; but of course, it would be helpful to know what the overall standpoint of this article is, and also, if you can work out what it is that it might / ought to be having an influence on — I'm guessing something like 'the market for cleaning machines'?
I suspect in FR it would be best to spell out in which sense this 'influence' is 'corresponding', by making it explicit that it is not a very great influence (if that is indeed the case!).

neutral  Debora Blake: Tony, part of the idea is there, but overall this sounds a bit ambiguous. Compared to the English, it's not explicit enough.

-> Ambiguous? Once slotted into the rest of the sentence, it should work just fine.

agree  Daryo: definitely yes for "correspondant", but I would leave "influence"

-> Thanks, Daryo! I'd feel happier if we knew more precisely what the document was implying 'was being influenced'? I suspect it just means 'not yet weighing in for much in the market' — not 'counting', whence my idea...?
