Spanish term or phrase: Licenciada Maria Sanchez, Registradora del Estado Civil
Me entiendo?

Maria Sanchez, Civil (Status) Registry Official / Vital Records Official

Explanation:
Voy a ofrecer una respuesta, porque las que aparecen en el glosario no me satisfacen.

Por ejemplo, aquí se ofrece la traducción de Civil Registrar
https://www.proz.com/kudoz/spanish-to-english/certificates-d...

Sin embargo Thomas West dice lo siguiente:
Registrador (1) (Vital Records Official (SYN) jefe civil Venezuela (2) (de propiedad) recorder. In American English, a "registrar" is usually a school official, whereas a "recorder" is a person with whom a deed or mortgage to be recorded is deposited.

Esta respuesta es en el entendido de que conviene omitir el título de "Licenciada" en la traducción al inglés.

Maria Sanchez (Law Graduate), Registrar of (US) Vital Records > (UK) Births, Marriages & Deaths

Explanation:
Licenciada, 9 times out of 10 in Latin American countries, is a law graduate. 0

Registrars themselves tend to be unhappy about being shorn of their titles because it doesn't 'sound right' in Anglo-Am. countries.

It is inadvisable to leave it out, as it shows that the Registrar is legally qualified with the approximate equivalent of an American JD or a UK LLB or BA (awarded by e.g. Oxford Uni). For instance, in some countries like the UK, legally unqualifed clerks may be in charge of the registry or, owing to shortages of legally qualified staff, even make on their own the decision to prosecute.

Example sentence(s):
  • USA: Birth, Marriage and Death Records. In-person request to the Registrar of Vital Records.
  • The University of Texas School of Law and the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in Mexico City have announced a new joint-degree program that will allow students to earn both a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas School of La

neutral  AllegroTrans: technically correct of course but if a BMD cert is certified by a Registrar (even a stand-in unqualified junior) it's entirely valid, regardless of title

-> Alas, I was witness - at my one-time London translation office - to a dispute over such a title that had been dropped & lasted almost a week. The title-holder claimed the prefixed qualif. had been in her passport, so 'part of her name' cf. the Dr. title.

agree  Wilsonn Perez Reyes: Parcialmente de acuerdo, lo más seguro es que sea graduada en Derecho (B.A. in Law). "Officer" (UK) y "Official" (US).

-> Gracias, Estimado Licenciado, and thanks! Both translators and interpreters are keen on stripping the incumbents of their 'otiose' titles in English, but I have seen the Licenciados y Licenciadas se vuelven totalmente locos y locas en su consecuencia!
