obtains an explanation/an explanatory account Explanation: The Arabic text is somewhat fuzzy, perhaps intentionally. I believe the writer is being circumspect in order to avoid inflaming the populace. Apparently, something bad happened, and people are really upset about it. A body called قيادة المجلس will obtain an explanation for it that will hopefully allay the anger, even if the explanation does not fully justify what happened. For now, at least, they just want people to calm down. The text is also marred by the common modern stylistic infelicity called قمقمة قيام قيادة المجلس باسـتثفاء الخطوات التوضيحية The word قيام is totally useless. All it does is increase the word count. What they really mean to say (and what you should translate) is: اسـتيفاء قيادة المجلس للخطوات التوضيحية ".... until the Council's leadership (or "Command" if it is a military council) obtains an explanation." If "explanation" seems too pithy (because the Arabic text uses two words), you can substitute "explanatory account." |
