Spanish term or phrase: me lo lleve

The following appears in a witness statement to a traffic accident in the USA:
"Venia conduciendo hacia el oeste del interestatal 10 en mi carril derecho al limite que piden de velocidades y de repente salió el carro de los carriles de al lado y cuando quise frenar me lo lleve porque ya no me dejo ver el tráiler que hiba al lado en el carril de en medio y ya no pude evitarlo llevando."
There is a lack of punctuation and I haven't corrected any errors or inserted missing accents.
I'm unsure of the intended meaning of "me lo lleve" in this context (I assume it should be "me lo llevé"). The same type of expression appears to be used at the end of the paragraph (llevando).
I do not know the background of the person writing the statement. I have considered "I hit it", but am really unsure as I haven't come across this usage before.
Can anyone help?

Explanation:
Your guess would be correct. There is the expression 'llevarse puesto' (me lo llevé puesto), which means to run into or over something, and I think that is the meaning in this context.

Of course, you know the context better, so you can judge whether to use 'I ran into it/him / I crashed into / I side swept / I hit the car'.
