أكملت كريمة الوردي قصة جابر وشمعة: ((مات جابر بعد أن قضى ثلاثين عاما مع شمعة دون أن يمسها، لم يقرب منها أبدا، ولقد ماتت شمعة وهي بكر يا ولدي. ضحَّت بحياتها من أجل حبها، ثم إنها استحت أن تشكو هذا النقص الذي تعانيه لأحد. ربما أنها ندمت على تضحيتها، وربما دار في خلدها أن تطلب الطلاق من جابر لكنها خجلت. ألم تسمعها وهي تنشد وتتغنى بـ"جهاز السيد" في أنشودتها، ربما أنها تمنت لو عاد بها الزمن لتقبل بالزواج من السيد حسن الغروب، لذلك هي تنشد أنشودة عن جهاز السيد الذكري كلما سمعت اسم "السيد"، أو رأت شيئا له علاقة بالسادة، لذلك عندما رأت "حجرة السيد" أخذت تنشد أنشودة "جهاز السيد". أنا أقول ربما، ربما يكون هذا هو السبب.
