Al-Muhtasiba Explanation: You are right this term is better transliterated. The sect appeared in the 1960s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juhayman_al-Otaybi Otaybi, upon moving to Medina, joined the local chapter of a Salafi group called Al-Jamaa Al-Salafiya Al-Muhtasiba (The Salafi Group That Commands Right and Forbids Wrong), which was founded in the mid-1960s by several of Muhammad Nasiruddin al-Albani's disciples. https://books.google.co.ma/books?id=lRwONIws0FEC&pg=PA53 Al-Jama`a al-Salafiyya al-Muhtasiba: Radical purist group with tribal affiliations whose members took over the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 51 mins (2020-09-02 16:39:08 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- For a member I would say Muhtasibi if not a Muhtasiba member |
