Reference: Kolağası Reference information: Kolağası (also written as Kol Ağsı, Kol Aghasi) was a military rank of the Ottoman Army. It corresponds to a Senior Captain (modern Turkish: Kıdemli Yüzbaşı)[2] or an Adjutant Major.[3] Kol Ağası is a compound word composed of Kol (column in Turkish) and Ağa (chief in Turkish). The rank was junior to the Binbaşı (Major) and superior to the Yüzbaşı (Captain). The rank of Kol Ağası was changed to Önyüzbaşı in Republican period. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2013-07-30 13:32:25 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Military_ranks_of_the_...
