L’any 2004, un cop resolta l’última convocatòria per a la creació, el desenvolupament i la consolidació de xarxes temàtiques (XT), s’havien reconegut un total de 207 xarxes a Catalunya, *****de les quals 146 estaven en període d’aplicació de l’ajut (setanta-nou fins al 2005, corresponents a la convocatòria del 2003, i seixanta-set fins al 2006, corresponents a la convocatòria del 2004)***.

This is my draft interpretation:
Of these 146 were still in the period of funds application (79 valid until the end of 2005/corresponding to the 2003 award, and 67 valid until the end of 2006/ corresponding to the 2004 award).

Is that what is meant? Note that funding covers 2 years.

That is what is meant but shouldn't it be better to say "2003/2004 grant (catalan = subvenció)"? I understand that a prize or a grant for studies is awarded, but funds for a project are "granted".
Well, you will always know better than me as you are native English speaker and I am Catalan, just wanted to tell you just in case...

That is what is meant but shouldn't it be better to say "2003/2004 grant (catalan = subvenció)"? I understand that a prize or a grant for studies is awarded, but funds for a project are "granted".
