some background information |

overseas activities Explanation: It is not Catalan, AFAIK. Th word "allend/allent/allén" is an old Spanish form for "allende". In Catalan is "mar enllà". |

fechos allend mar (overseas matters) Explanation: I don't know if I can offer any evidence, but I think this is the idea. hechos > fechos -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 15 mins (2009-03-30 13:15:49 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- "H" words in Spanish sometimes have equivalents in Catalan that start with "f" (hormigas > formigues, horno > forn). -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 16 mins (2009-03-30 13:17:40 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- OR "overseas events" (though I think "matters" is a safer bet: more general + the originally text uses "asuntos"). -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 19 mins (2009-03-30 13:20:03 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- RAE: fecho, cha. (Del lat. factus). 3. m. ant. Acción, hecho o hazaña. |
