The new machines work by suction. Pile hight per bin is 65 mm (2.5\") and 130 mm (5\") for the cover stock bin. Each collator features 8 bins. By putting three collators in line products with up to 24 different sheets can be collated. The maximum speed is 3,600 sets per hour, the system works up to 36 x 52 cm (14x20\"). On the Drupa the S8 will be on demonstration in a booklet production line that uses loop staples, presses the booklet fold and makes a face trim. Nagel also offer a high pile stacker for the S8 featuring 50 cm pile hight for straight or offset stacking. All components are controlled via large LCD screens. Collating without any finishing is also possible. Each bin of the S8 raises the pile parallel, like in a high pile feeder, to ensure stable feeding conditions regardless of the pile hight. An automatic feature switches sheet sizes within all bins simultaneously. Two separate built-in pumps avoid cross influ-ence between suction and blow air flow and work at low noise levels. Offering 130mm (5\") capacity in the S8\'s cover sheet bin means a compact collator would need reloading six times for the same amount of sheets. The remaining seven S8-bins offer around threefold capacity. This increases operator efficiency consider-ably. New Booklet Makers The Foldnak 8 with added features will be shown as the Foldnak 80, an automatic booklet maker. Automatic paper stops switch between jobs within 10 seconds. Transport belts improve reliability in the paper path even for stock with little body or static charge. The Foldnak 80 will work with sizes from SRA3 down to A5 or CD-booklets. Another new development is the Foldnak 40. Being an entry level booklet maker, unlike the Foldnak 80 it does not offer automatic paper stops, power clenching and higher speed. But, as all Foldnak models, it offers the patented one-pass stapling and folding action. It can also be upgraded for online-operation with a collator. Available for the Foldnak 80 and 40 models will be the new Trimpress, a face trim-mer. The integrated pressing station is a special feature that creases the booklet spine before trimming to achieve a lay flat booklet. The creasing action and cutting are inline steps, saving a lot of operator time as opposed to working on a cutter. Drills The complete range of drills is a focus on the Nagel stand. Citoborma automatic drills with six heads down to bench top models for small runs will be on display running various jobs. For difficult applications drill bit cooling, rotation speed and cycle speed control can be supplied. Top of the line is the Citoborma 490. Its design allows to drill A3 sheets landscape or portrait right in the sheet centre. As part of the range Nagel will demonstrate their drill bits. Three qualities are availa-ble: Type-1 drill bits with green colour coding for standard jobs, HD drill bits with yellow colour coding lasting up to 4 times as long, and teflon drill bits with blue colour coding for coated stocks or plastics. Staplers The Multinak twin-stapler works up to 270 sheets. Staple wires for extremely thin saddle stitched booklets, loop staples or stronger staples for pad stapling can all be used on that machine. Nagel will have the power stroke version Multinak-S on dis-play, along with the treadle operated Multinak-FS. Where less flexibility is needed the TAK18 pad stapler for a maximum of 140 sheets and the Rinak stapler for up to 40 sheets for saddle or flat work complete the range. Nagel\'s own loop staples and flat staples fulfill a wide number of different needs. All types feature the Nagel chisel point ensuring easy penetration of paper or card. New folding machine with sensor technology For folding jobs in the A3 (11x17\") class Nagel present the Docufold. For the first time it will be offered as the Docufold-S featuring a sensor. The sensor will measure the paper length. Both fold pockets and the conveyor then adjust automatically on choosing a fold type. The Docufold-S can be operated with lesser qualification and makes frequent job changes easy. Loading and unloading can be done from one side. Heavier covers bypass the fold rollers for perforation or scoring to avoid any curl. A register table to align sheets, pulse operation, preset and total counter are standard features.
