In Croatia , there exist THE MINISTRY OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, which operates through ''matična područja''- so-called ''županije''(plural of županija), which is the closest term to English county.
So, a certain Registry book of the deceased refers to a particular county which is administratively responsible for all data concerning the population there. The Registry office issues the certificates of birth, also for the deceased.
