Definitions of settling basin on the Web:

“the part of the water treatment plant where sediment and the globs of impurities formed by coagulants sink to the bottom and the clean water flows off the top to the filters. Click here for a diagram of a settling basin that's part of one of our Water Treatment Plants.”

“small ponds or basins where water flows are contained to enable suspended sediment to settle before the flow is discharged into a stream.”

“a concrete or earth bottom settling structure where manure solids settle out from liquids.”

“A settling basin or settling pond is a method of removing very fine particles from water by means of gravity. The dirty water enters the basin at one end and the cleaner water is taken out at the other end. The water must be in the basin long enough for the desired particle size to be removed. Smaller particles require longer periods for removal and thus larger basins. Stoke's Law can be used to calculate the size of a settling basin needed in order to remove a desired particle size.”

neutral  V&M Stanković: tip SBR je samo za tretman mulja ("biological treatment and separation of the aerated sludge") poslije izdvajanja taloženjem iz vode, a te prethodne faze (i taloženje) su predviđene u uređajima SI, S i P - gdje možete naći baš i "settling tank" -taložnicu
