Na hrvatskom (još uvijek) ne postoji termin Ms, pa se žene uglavnom oslovljavaju sa gđa. ili gđica. ovisno o bračnom statusu. Međutim, bonton nalaže da se sve žene starije od 30 godina oslovljavaju sa gđa., bez obzira na bračni status. Ipak, a to govorim iz iskustva, kada vas netko (čitaj: muškarci) upita da li ste gđa. ili gđica., aludira na bračni status a ne na dob.

Hm, kod mene na Korculi je jos i najgore ... moras znat i hrvatski i korculanski... a na korculanskome ti je svatko stariji covjek "dundo" bio ti ujak ili ne i svaka zena starija "teta" bila strina ili nega nepoznata zena koja pozna nekog tvojeg...:))

Bez brige, u mom rječniku svi su tete i stričeki s časnim izuzetkom par stričeka iz Dalmacije koji su u tom slučaju barbe! Od ujaka, tetaka, strina i sličnih se i meni zavrti u glavi!

You're right, Simon - Ms would be 'politically correct', but unfortunatelly we are still not 'politically correct' in that department :-)

You know what... forget about my "little miss" I think I mixed this up with "young lady"... I presume you just have to know you can't take a "Ms" for "Gđa"...

It is an interesting issue as here, in the UK n.p., Ms can be seen as being 'politically correct' and thus depending on your attitude to this, you may or may not like to use it.

Explanation:
In Serbo- Croatian it definitely means that the woman is married. Unfortunately, we don`t have the form that doesn`t reveal the woman`s marital status. But I don`t think it would be a mistake if you translate it as `Ms` since it covers both.
I`ve recently started using `Ms` in all cases- I don`t think it`s fair to classify women in this manner when there`s no such classification for you guys. :)
