awesome

Explanation:
"Famózní" is an informal and expressive word for "great", "excellent", "awesome" ... But we need more context, definitely!

agree  Gerry Vickers: it's horribly American, but is slowly creeping into regular English usage :)

-> I know it’s American :-) ... Sorry ... Maybe it does not express the meaning at all. I was looking for a special word because "famózní" sounds quite ... informal and expressive to me. I was not happy with "great" :-). Anyway, we’ll see, thanks.

Je famozni (slavna) filmova hvezda.
This is no false friend (which see), this is a cognate.
"Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Latin famosus, from fama fame" (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/famous).

disagree  Jana Bedanova: This IS a false friend. Je famózní filmová hvězda means - he is a brilliant film star - but it does not mean "he is famous" as in "slavný"

phenomenal

Explanation:
I absolutely disagree with "famous". When we say "famózní" in Czech we rarely mean "famous" in the sense of "slavný", rather it means that something was bloody fantastic! phenomenal! brilliant! excellent! - choose any of those
