I believe using "radicular" instead of "root" is fine here, the expression (radicular syndrome) is widely used and the definition is identical (due to compression of a nerve root exiting from the spinal cord).

Also, since we are talking about nerves coming from the spinal cord, "zánik" would not refer to the activity of the (pyramidal system of the) brain as suggested above, but rather to the clinical manifestation of the radicular syndrome (spastic and paretic signs due to a compressed nerve root and not a condition of the pyramidal system).
