I believe that se here simply stands as an abbreviation for sedimentation/sediment

The SE for standard of error does not apply here, neither do any other CRP abbreviations.

This would, IMO, indicate that there is still some inflammation present. However, I have not seen the rest of your text.

That is why I put the retention in parenthesis, meaning it can go without it. You can say "some sediment particles" etc. :) Anyway, at least we agree on something :)

Asker: Thanks! there certainly was continued inflammation, you are probably correct, but literal 'retention of sedimentation substances' still seems strange, sigh...
