squat

Explanation:
I am not sure - but the example looks like what we are looking for - "rolling contact fatigue".

Example sentence(s):
  • Squats, a type of rail rolling contact fatigue, lead to larger dynamic forces and shorter service lives of tracks and rolling stocks.

lap

Explanation:
looking for pipes combined with defectively rolled wire (poškozování zařízení vadně váleným drátem [převalky] at http://spisy.upv.cz/Patents/FullDocuments/91/91200.pdf) led me to descriptions of "folds", which would make sense, i.e. "pre"valek - "re/over"roll [thus creating a fold], which led me to:
Lap: A surface defect appearing as a seam caused by a fold of the material being rolled or drawn into the surface.

but this would be a defect on production, I suppose, and not the result of fatigue

Notes to answerer
Asker: This sounds quite likely, as we are talking about manufacturing defects which are exacerbated as the pipe grows old. I have actually found the term "roll-out", so I think I will use that. Thank you for all your efforts
