Danish term or phrase: remons eller remonce
Vinterberg & Bodelsen gives [butter and sugar filling for cakes] for remonce.
The recipe for Remons in Tørsleff's 'Blaa Bagebog' contains almonds, butter and sugar.

The versions I have eaten with friends sometimes contained marzipan and egg, and raisins are sprinkled in for good measure. (A good idea considering the large amounts of heavy plain dough some bakers wrap it all up in...)

My other dictionaries and recipe books are monolingual or don't mention the subject, and I cannot immediately find anything equivalent in the English ones.

English and Danish baking traditions are slightly different - the filling in Eccles cakes and the larding of lardy cakes are perhaps related, but not at all the same nowadays!

Do I just go for 'almond cake filling', or does anyone know a better term?

Some of my colleagues here at my college have suggested "almond paste" but I suspect that is something a little different.

I've found cinnamon versions in the meantime, too - almonds are not compulsory!
