Danish to English translations [PRO]

Danish term or phrase: meddigtende
"Eleverne kan også skrive en meddigtende, historisk fortælling ud fra et selvvalgt perspektiv ved at inddrage udvalgte nedslag."

I found some indications this is derived from so-called "reader-response" methods of teaching, but I haven't been able to nail down the English term yet. I really need to hear from someone familiar with such methods, as the source is obviously directed at teachers.
