Dutch term or phrase: omloop
Dear translators,
In the translation of an architectural proposal, I came across the word "omloop" in the following context:

What I think they mean is that there is a sort of hallway/gallery/interior balcony around the central part of the floor, in which the listed spaces are located. However, I cannot find the English term for an "omloop" in this sense anywhere. The only thing I'm finding is circulation, wrap, turnover, traffic, etc.
I was thinking maybe balustrade or gallery. Does anyone have any suggestions or know if mine are correct?

thanks!

agree  Alexander Schleber (X): absolutely!

neutral  freekfluweel: although it's also accessable for gallerygoers (and it is technically therefore a 'gallery') I don't think this is specific enough ;-)) // Nu denkt men dat er ook een museum inzit.

'glass-covered passageway (encircling the building)'?

agree  Wiard Sterk: With the context provided, this is good. The 'publieke wachtruimte' would suggest a foyer, but this is part of the gallery, I guess.

"omloop" is another word for "galerij" and describes quite accurately those walkways that look down onto a main hall

agree  Barend van Zadelhoff: or peripheral hallways :-) Thank you for considering. To me they look like hallways (future situation).

-> dit is alleen nog maar "gallery play". Toch bedankt!

agree  Michael Beijer: or 'enclosed hallway' (as in your ref. above)
