trailer, trailer section
Explanation:
Sounds like OSI reference model stuff to me. 'Trailer' or 'trailer section' would be fine in this case. I'd opt for 'trailer' myself.

The seven OSI layers use various forms of control information to communicate with their peer layers in other computer systems. This control information consists of specific requests and instructions that are exchanged between peer OSI layers. Headers and Trailers of data at each layer are the two basic forms to carry the control information.

agree  Jack den Haan: Had my doubts about the use of 'field' in this context at first Lianne, but on second thoughts -- and after googling 'trailer field' in combination with 'OSI' ;-) -- this term seems to be fine.

-> My guess was that the header and trailer are the "elements" or "components" and the field contains the actual code. Maar het geluk is met de vrijwel domme hier. Bedankt Jack.
