Trados haggler
Explanation:
or Trados penny-pincher/miser/slave-driver/skin-flint etc, All depends how much grief they are giving you ;-(
I do not personally own Trados. I find it hard to understand why I should fork out for this expensive program and all the yearly updates and seminars so that I get given headaches by customers at the end of the day who want to rob me of the benefit of my investment. I think all translators should refuse to give ANY discount for using Trados. That should be YOUR benefit for all the money and effort you put into the program and its mastery. But that's me blowing my top! I'm sure PMs will disagree - or will they?

agree  Chris Hopley: Notwithstanding some unethical "Trados quibbling" practices (e.g. where agency demands Trados discount but doesn't pass that on to client), you could also see it as an investment in maximising availability (for other clients), throughput and consistency.

agree  Deborah do Carmo: It is up to translators to make the tool work for themselves, with Chris on this one / all have pros and cons beyond the scope of this limited space, my comment actually refers to any CAT, requests for discounts are not limited to Trados in my experience.

-> Thanks L-L. What does Trados do that Wordfast, Memo-Q or Across doesn't?
