Dutch term or phrase: maakmaatschappij
my context:

"We dagen je kind uit verbanden te leggen over leergebieden heen om meer inzicht te krijgen in allerhande vraagstukken. Zo oriënteert hij zich op de moderne kennis- en maakmaatschappij waarin digitale technologie grenzen overstijgt. Onderwijs voor denken en doen én voor hart en geweten: daar gaan wij voor."

"Kennismaatschappij" dat ken ik, maar wat in god's naam is een "maakmaatschappij"?

You're welcome, Michael. I recognise this kind of frustration only too well. Also applies to sentences that are so long they don't even fit on an A4-size page, as in many a patent application. The other end of the scale, you could say. And just as frustrating ;-)

Thanks Jack. It all makes sense now.

Am totally frazzled, as I have been fighting with this horrendous text for days now. Why do certain Dutch people write in zillions of tiny, disconnected 4-word sentences? My brain hurts from trying to make it look l
