Development of secondary fermentation Explanation: Secondary fermentation is a process which can occur but whether or not it will happen apparently is very difficult to predict. An ignition risk with coal storage appears to be increased where organic substances are present in the coal and sufficient moisture is around, too. I posted extracts of that in English at the reference part right here below. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 days (2014-10-30 21:33:33 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Secondary fermentation is a process in which by formation of mould, bacteria or in combination with oxygen and an organic material, heat is produced. Depending on the product, this is a process that happens is more or less rapidly. For forcing several factors are needed. One such factor is the presence of organic substances in the storage. This can be large amounts of coal or wood chips, as well as bulk storage of contaminated plastic containing are organic rest particles. Also, the moisture percentage of the storage is a key factor for the development of heating. If the product contains more than 15% moisture, there is a risk of scalding. In combination with oxygen, there can arise a biological process, whereby the heat in the organic material can not escape. As a result, the temperature rises. The scalding process can be divided into two stages, biological and chemical heating. Micro organisms create a heat which can amount to 60-70 degrees Celsius. The micro-organisms will, if the temperature rises further, die. At that point there are two possibilities. In most cases, the temperature will stabilize and even decrease. In some cases, however, chemical forcing occurs. Carbon is converted into carbon dioxide and as a result, the temperature can quickly rise above 100 degrees Celsius and will evaporate the moisture. Once no moisture is present in the biomass, the temperature will continue to rise until the point is reached that the product ignites spontaneously. Reference Reference information: The compaction will prevent oxygen contact to a large extend, but not entirely. Not sure if you are looking for an explanation of the process or that you are questioning the reasoning and expertise of the presenter? Or are you looking for a translation of "broeiontwikkeling"? |
