Tech/Engineering - Geology / soil subsidence

P.S. One of the technical meanings of the word "zetting" is subsidence, according to Kluwer's Universeel Technisch Woordenboek.

I think it would be useful to clarify the meaning of the word subsidence in English. The word means sinking lower in the ground or water, and a synonym is settling. A subsidence monitoring bolt would be a bolt used for the purpose of monitoring subsidence or sinking of a building lower into the ground or water.
