back-end load Explanation: I believe this is what you're referring to: Definition of 'Back-End Load' A fee (sales charge or load) that investors pay when selling mutual fund shares within a specified number of years, usually five to 10 years. The fee amounts to a percentage of the value of the share being sold. The fee percentage is highest in the first year and decreases yearly until the specified holding period ends, at which time it drops to zero. Also known as a "contingent deferred sales charge or load." (from: http://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/back-end-load.asp#axzz1t... ) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 41 mins (2012-05-04 00:15:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The term seems to occur frequently in mutual funds, but I don't believe it is specific to mutual funds. Another definition: "A sales charge or commission paid when an individual sells an investment, such as a mutual fund or an annuity. Intended to discourage withdrawals. also called redemption fee or deferred sales charge." (from: http://www.investorwords.com/372/back_end_load.html ) |

Reference: We've had this before. Reference information: I don't think the chosen answer, retrospective payment, would work here. I'd go for additional payment. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 15 hrs (2012-05-04 14:59:46 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Subsequent payment is fine too.
