English translation:Mortal Sin Against the Constitutional State
Explanation:
It is "doodzonde" rather than "dood zonde". It gives the sentence a rather big twist!

BeCrystalClear... hmmm. Interesting name. For lack of anything better. I selected your answer as most appropriate. I liked "mortal sin", but I can't make peace with "the constitutional state". I went for Government instead. But thanks for your input!

Casey

-> I have to say, "deadly sin" works too... and maybe better than Serge's or my solutions.

Terrible Sin Against the Constitutional State

Explanation:
Agreed with BeCrystalBear's solution.

A less "terminal" approach could be "Terrible Sin Against the Constitutional State". "Doodzonde" is used completely figurative, while expressions as "mortal sin" or "deadly sin" might imply a cause of death.

Een minder extreem terminologiegebruik dus.

neutral  writeaway: terrible doesn't really work at all -it's departing too much from the Dutch. If it were my job, I'd use deadly sin but that's just me.....
