It is about time series of all possible kinds of statistical figures, such as business turnover, population size etc. For instance the business turnover per month.

The document is a scientific report.

Example of context:
"Door grafisch naar een statistische cijferreeks te kijken krijgt de analist een eerste indruk van aanwezige componenten en in combinatie met wat hij weet van de tijdreeks zelf. Is er een duidelijk jaarlijks seizoenpatroon aanwezig zoals typisch is voor de horeca, toerisme, landbouw? Of heeft de reeks zichtbaar een conjuncturele beweging zoals kenmerkend is voor veel arbeidsmarktstatistieken of het consumentenvertrouwen."

Possible translations could be 'number series' or 'figure series', but they both seem doubtful to me.

Can only see this in relation to stats. I think you can leave out numbers, figures, data as it is fairly obvious thats what it is all about instatistics.

agree  Lianne van de Ven: Since the provided text is only an example and cannot be used for 'context', I'd go for the full version. Not sure there is any real difference between array or series of numbers.

  -> Bedankt. With array in stats I understand more numbers not sequentially ordered (such as expressed in the form of x1+x2 +x3....where x is either z real or complex figure)

I know "tijdreeks" is used later, but the sentence seems confused to me. In this context, I'd use "time series" for cijferreeks and something like "application area/domain" for tijdreeks.

Explanation:
Normally one could also translate this as "number series" or "numerical series", but that is more usually used in mathematics. Business results are usually referred to as figures.

Asker: Thanks. I think normally this would be the preferable solution, but since 'the word' figures' is used fairly often in the text and I think the context is sufficiently clear, I have used just 'series' anyway.
