in military service Explanation: I think this would cover it. The sentence does indeed make sense, but is a little odd... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs (2007-06-13 21:51:33 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- PS: In this context, 'military service' should not be confused with 'militaire dienst' -- which has a more or less compulsory ring to it. Actually, I think the author may have used the term 'wapen van defensie' to avoid confusion with the common interpretation of 'militaire dienst' in Dutch as a kind of "compulsory duty", as opposed to the somewhat broader connotation that the term 'military service', in my opinion, has in English. |

unclear Explanation: I'd ask the client to make sure when handling weapons at the ministry of defense? 'werken' would sound more logical here -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 51 mins (2007-06-13 19:37:38 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- There's no such thing as an army/defense unit/division called 'wapen' wapen means 'weapon', the sentence really doens't make sense in Dutch -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 11 hrs (2007-06-14 06:08:59 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- I stand corrected! |
