Dutch term or phrase: passantenligplaats
Dear colleagues,

Again I need your help, this time regarding the term "passantenligplaats" in the following context:

XX B.V. is eigenaar van meerdere jachthavens in Amsterdam. In onze havens zijn ligplaatsen beschikbaar voor verschillende soorten boten. U kunt een vaste ligplaats huren voor één of meerdere seizoenen of een passantenligplaats voor één of enkele nachten.

Thank you very much for your suggestions!

disagree  Margriet Kroes: In UK marina's you would call the spot where you 'park' your boat a berth. A mooring is a buoy to which you can tie up your boot and mooring is used as a verb: "A visitors berth is used for short-term mooring."

-> Thanks for the lesson in my native language, but you're wrong. And so is your English punctuation. And "tie up your boot?" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mooring_(watercraft)

disagree  Wiard Sterk: I agree with Margriet, berth is used in marinas. As a sailor, I know. Within this context, berth is generally used. There are differences in use between mooring and berth. Visitors to a marina are provided with a berth.

-> Mooring means exactly the same as berth.

agree  Richard Purdom: The comments above are wrong imho, here's some backup from my hometown http://www.syharbour.co.uk/index.php/marina/berthing-fees/te...

agree  Kitty Brussaard: Definitely a good option (but IMHO not the one and only correct answer, as you seem to imply here and elsewhere), particularly if asker is looking for a UK equivalent.

-> In the UK a visiting yachtsman would definitely ask for a visitors berth

agree  Wiard Sterk: Definitely.
