English term or phrase: I want to go
I WANT TO GO

Hi,

In expressions of the above kind, am I right in thinking that there are basically two alternatives?

I.e. can I say either “Unë dua të shkoj” or “Unë dua të shkuar”? Are perhaps there other alternatives also?

This is very interesting linguistically – most languages say “I want to go”, but Greek and Bulgarian always say, “I want that I go.” In Romanian both are possible, so I’ll be very interested to know what the case is in Albanian. Of course, I realise that shkuar is a participle, not an infinitive.

All the best, and thanks for everything,

Unë dua të shkoj
Explanation:
Dear SeiTT,

the only alternative to "I want to go" is the above. "Unë dua të shkuar" is wrong, even though "to go" some times is "për të shkuar, vajtur,".

We also have \"Dua që të shkoj\" which in English is still \"I want to go\", so we use both in different situations
