English term or phrase: Spinning top
This is a very old game with many modern variants.
In classical Arabic I found خذروف for it, and I know it is called صياح (Sayya7) in the Syrian dialect. I am sure there are other names for it around the Arab world.

The game consits of a peace of wood tapering down to a steel tip which is made to spin on a hard surface by means of winding a string tightly around it, then releasing it swifly on the floor.

What I need to know is whether this game exists in the gulf area, and what it is called there.
Alternatively I am hoping to come up with a name that is recognized widely in the Arab world.

Thanks in advance.
