English term or phrase: Stara Planina (the mountains in which the cities of Yambol and Shumen are)
Hi,

Many thanks to Nikola Ivanov for the following:

Even though there are lots of people from this minority throughout Bulgaria, the majority live in the vicinity of the East Rodopa mountain and in and around the cities of Yambol and Shumen. Many came to Sofia lately looking for employment.

However, according to my map, these cities are in the eastern Stara Planina mountains – so what is the correct Bulgarian term for the mountains in which these cities are situated, please?

Are there perhaps two different terms, Stara Planina and Iztochna Rodopi Planina?

Please don’t forget to give the stress.

Best wishes,

Simon

Shumen is located north of Balkan Mountains (the massif divides Bulgaria into Northern and Southern part) and Yambol is located between The Balkans and Strandzha (Str'andzha) massif - low mountain chain, continuation of Rhodopes to the Black Sea.
