他因其优美熟练的怪相表演而闻名, (以其和蔼可亲的性格而深受喜爱) Explanation: I suppose here grim=grimace, ugly twisted expression (on the face), expressing pain, disgust, etc or intented to cause laughter OXFORD |

以优雅娴熟显示严峻而闻名 Explanation: 以优雅娴熟显示严峻而闻名(,却以友善而倍受喜爱) Guess: 严峻 is opposite to 友善 -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 11 hrs 40 mins (2005-10-17 18:33:30 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- From another question, the answer should be 以优雅娴熟演示惊险绝技而闻名(,却以友善而倍受喜爱) |

FYI Explanation: The whole sentence would make a better sense if the word 'grim' is actually a typo for 'grin'. Based on my assumption, I would try to translate the entire sentence as follow: 他以优雅技巧显露笑容而闻名,并因他的友善天性而备受敬爱. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 hrs 2 mins (2005-10-17 19:55:29 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Second thought, I think 他以优雅的技巧展示笑容而闻名,并因他的友善天性而备受敬爱 is smoother then ".....以优雅技巧显露笑容......" |
