English term or phrase: Croatian surnames for male and females -Is there a differnece?
I am told by a translator that the surname for our client's borther must have an 'a' added to the end of the name to indicate that it is her borther.
Our client disagrees and it's causing us some drama.
Can anyone clarify this for me?

Thanks very much in advance!
Warm regards
Michelle

croatian surnames for male and females -is there a differnece?
.. in some cases

Explanation:
... depending on a surname suffix and the case used (Nom. Gen. Dat --- 7 of them).
Also, there could be a missunderstanding caused by a 'traditional' and/or 'local' ways of surname(s) declention ...

Too long story ...
So, could you please state the surname(s) concerned ?
