English to Czech translations [Non-PRO]
Government / Politics / It is an EU text
English term or phrase: on the side
Here,
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=LEGISSUM:... ,
they tell that the planned revision of the Directive 2009/50/EC — Conditions of entry and residence of non-EU nationals for the purposes of highly-qualified employment (EU Blue Card) is to bring benefits such as
"broader rights (more flexible labour market access, including self-employed activity on the side; immediate family reunification; easier access to EU long-term residence status)"

The doc's intention is to explain what the directive and blue card is all about to ordinary people (like me). Now it is translated into other EU languages. Some language versions translate "on the side" as "part-time" (self-employed activity carried out simultaneously with the primary - employment contract - job), while other ignore it completely in the translated text. I feel that the latter is right but I'm still not sure. Thanks for any help! Alternative wording suggestions are welcome as well.

Notes to answerer
