Background: The evaluation of T-cells, B-cells and NK cells is a routine flow cytometry assay that is used to identify the major lymphocyte cell populations of the immune system. Conjugated antibodies are incubated with whole blood PBMC or tissue samples, processed and acquired on the flow cytometer. The populations are gated using analysis software and the effects of a test article or other treatment can be evaluated for these populations. The routine subsets are Total T-lymphocytes, T-helper cells, Cytotoxic T-cells, Total B-lymphocytes and Natural Killer cells. These populations can be evaluated in a variety of species, with slight variations in the antibody combinations.
