I am trying to translate this phrase from English to Czech:

Don't Waste The Pretty

This is the name of a song title. I am wanting to translate it to use as a title for a paper I am writing for school.

Czech translation:Neplýtvej silami/Neházej prely sviním
Explanation:
je-li to v píseň uvedená Ivanem Š., znamená to doslova tohle: "neplýtvej tím hezkým, nedávej to cenné ze sebe" (kvůli němu/když za to sklidíš jen bolest/když je život taková potvora) nebo "jaký smysl má vydávat (cennou energii)", když člověk za to sklidí jen bolest, když je život tak krutej, atd. Taková průměrná holčičí lyrika. ("Nemá cenu dávat, když ti ostatní od tebe jen berou a sami nedávají.")

Hezké ustálené spojení, pocházející původně z Bible, je:
Neházej perly sviním (=neplýtvej cennými věcmi pro lidi, kteří si jich neumí vážit, nedávej to cenné ze sebe lidem, kteří za to nestojí)

Je pravda, že pro zpěvačku např. typu Leony Machálkové by se tento druhý návrh překladu kvůli slovu "svině" asi nehodil... :)

If you're not native in Czech sorry I've been wasting pretty too much energy on Czech explanation.:) The idioms "neplýtvej silami" and "neházej perly sviním" are widely used for "not wasting valuable energy/strong emotions/whatever on anything that's not worth it nor on anybody who would not appreciate it and gives no positive response"

In fact, for your purposes I would think "Neplýtvej silami" is slightly better. I could imagine it as a pop song title quite well. It's more general, something like "Don't waste your (positive) energy" (on whatever that's not worth). Whereas "neházej perly sviním" is more explicit - it originally comes from Bible ("don't throw pearls to swines"). Although it is widely used among people in colloquial language not so many popmusic producers would like to see it on a LP/CD cover for "swine" is felt to be pejorative or somewhat nasty. (A hiphop, rap, punk, heavy-metal or even maybe R&B title would be quite ok, though.)

disagree  Lukáš Georgiev: Omlouvám se, Ivane, musím dát disagree, jednoznačně nesprávně. Jasný význam v uvedené písni: neplýtvej tím hezkým kvůli němu, kvůli bolesti (páč tyhle věci za to nestojej), česky se říká "Neplýtvej silami" (dávám vlastní návrh)
