lijkt wat minder goed te passen dan 'likely' maar met een beetje fantasie valt daar misschien ook iets van te maken, waar ik in ieder geval aan dacht was zoiets als:

In het afgelopen decennium zijn er van hen bijna twee keer zo veel (*) uitgesproken/duidelijk pro-Europees gebleven en hebben ze ook in ieder geval één keer niet op de partij gestemd waar ze gewoonlijk op stemmen.

(*) als van de algemene bevolking
- 'twee keer zo veel' = is uiteraard relatief twee keer zo veel

Er is inderdaad een steekje los aan de grammatica in de source tekst. Ik zou zeggen "...they have remained twice as likely to be broadly pro-European (than the general population)", zo kan het in ieder geval het beste vertaald worden.

Any reading of Federal Trust Papers should prove to any unbiased reader that the FT does exactly that; Lord Jenkins, in his foreword to one of them, admits that "All of those participating are broadly 'pro-European'" The same paper states categorically that "We see no bright future for the British.people unless they engage fully in the economics, culture and politics of Europe. Accordingly, we want the UK government to play a full part in all aspects of European integration and to accept that there will be implications for the way we conduct our own affairs at home
