infodemie Definition from intituut voor de Nederlaandse taal: Te overvloedige, 'ziekelijke' hoeveelheid informatie over een bepaald onderwerp, die vaak niet helemaal of zelfs helemaal niet waar is. Infodemie is een mixwoord van informatie en epidemie en het werd in Nederland geïntroduceerd door Frido Herinckx, die de wereldwijde coronahulpverlening van het Rode Kruis coördineert. Het Engelse woord infodemic werd vorige week al gebruikt door de World Health Organization (WHO) en ook in Duitsland zingt Infodemie rond. De organisatie maakt zich zorgen over foutieve informatie ('fake news') over het coronavirus, die vooral door sociale media verspreid wordt. Example sentence(s):
