De medische fysicus van het ziekenhuis moet bijgevolg een methode uitwerken waarmee de bronactiviteit routinematig kan gecontroleerd worden. Meestal gebeurt dat aan de hand van een well-type ionisatiekamer (putkamer). In samenwerking met het Onze Lieve Vrouw ziekenhuis van Aalst werden alle stappen die tot een dosiswaarde op 2 mm geleid hebben gecontroleerd. Daarbij werden systematisch grote afwijkingen gevonden gaande tot 30 % (zie artikel 5, hoofdstuk 7). De dosisinformatie moet nauwkeurig gekend zijn vooraleer een zinnige vergelijking opgesteld kan worden met de klinische resultaten behaald met 192Ir bronnen. De activiteit wordt gemeten met een putkamer.
